Celebrating 40 years of support

Local Nundah charity, Muscular Dystrophy Queensland (MDQ), is celebrating its 40th year of operation.

Starting with a small group of concerned parents in 1978, the organisation has increased to provide a range of services for families living with muscular dystrophy and other neuromuscular conditions.

Muscular dystrophy is a genetic muscle-wasting condition that causes progressive muscle weakness. It often causes profound physical disability and there is currently no cure. Today, the prognosis for many of the muscular dystrophies is greatly improved. In 1978 it was unimaginable that Ken (pictured below) would still be with us today.

With the help of families, businesses and supporters, MDQ is able to continue to provide services to Queensland families and to fundraise to support families who may not be covered by the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

Muscular Dystrophy Queensland is launching a Nundah Community Volunteer Committee and are looking for locals with a little spare time who would like to support the charity.
