Flannel Flowers is a new boutique lane-way style florist to open in Nundah. Opening in the popular Ryans Road complex, which is also home to the Blockhouse Café, owner Kylie Bunting has realised her life-long dream of being a florist.
“Having been raised in the commercial flower industry, I had spent my childhood in the flower fields, warehouses and florist shops,” says Kylie.
“After having a long career as a vet nurse I decided now was the perfect time to launch my next career.”
Kylie fell in love with the village feel of Nundah and the strong sense of community.
“When I was searching for a venue, I knew it had to be Nundah. There is so much positive progress happening within the community and my unique little shop was the perfect fit for the alternate style that is emerging here,” says Kylie.
Kylie is passionate about working with other local businesses, and worked with Grand Ideas, a Northgate-based business on custom features for Flannel Flowers. The shelving used in the shop is made from old Tasmanian oak mechanic timber trays and the mosaic timber feature wall was salvaged from a local factory.
Kylie has created a beautiful, cosy space for people to browse her range of affordable gifts, homewares and flowers.
Offering a variety of bouquets and arrangements, Kylie also focuses on emerging trends in the area to accommodate what locals are interested in.
“I believe locals will continue to be conscious shoppers, putting thought into sustainability and where products come from. I also see a lot of interest in living arrangements, such as terrariums and moss balls,’ says Kylie.
Flannel Flowers will also host events, with Crafternoon events being planned, and the store will focus on supporting local crafters and markets.
