Kedron Locals Launch Award-Winning Activewear Brand
After being frustrated with purchasing activewear online, Kedron friends Stevie Angel and Nadia Tucker decided to launch their own brand of activewear – for all women.
“We would order products that looked beautiful on models in photos but didn’t perform in real-life on bodies without model proportions,”says Stevie.
“We believed that women deserved better.”
Stevie and Nadia decided to launch Active Truth – locally made activewear that celebrates all women regardless of size, shape or stage of life.
“Not only do we provide more sizes, we also consistently show a diverse range of women in our marketing,” says Stevie.
“All healthy, happy, active – and never, ever photoshopped.“
Since launching two-and-a-half years ago, Active Truth has experienced rapid growth and recently won the 2018 Telstra Queensland Emerging and Energised Award, and the CCIQ Award for Outstanding Small Business at the 2018 Lord Mayor’s Business Awards.
“Winning both awards this year was a great opportunity to stop and reflect on what we have achieved in two short years,” says Stevie.
In 2019 Stevie and Nadia are looking to introduce a wider product range with more tops, tights, and a new accessories range.
But in the meantime, you might spot Stevie and Nadia at the local Kedron Brook.
“We both love Kedron Brook. It’s inspiring to see so many people out and about being active – families, cycling groups, parkrun, bootcamps and dog walkers,” says Stevie.
“There are so many different options and we’re fortunate to have such a beautiful location right on our doorstep.”
